Malibu Boat (@MalibuBoats) Owners Justin Spence and Josh Redstone went in partners on a 2008 Wakesetter 23 LSV. The two were new to water sports, when Josh suggested they check out the boats at Malibu Boats Dealers Waterski America in Dallas, TX. They were so impressed by the boats and the way they were treated at WSA, they decided to jump into the world of water sports boats by purchasing a Malibu.

Austin’s HomeAway SuperBowl Ad Scores Big Traffic
Austin company HomeAway Inc. spent a total of $2 million to make and air their commercial for the SuperBowl. It features Chevy Chase and Beverly D’Angelo in a National Lampoon’s reunion.
It didn’t win any huge awards (only placing 12th on the USA Today ad meter), and many New York City advertising and marketing executives snubbed their nose at it. But, you know what, who cares! The ad worked. Their website received an aggregate traffic spike of 460,000 views during the third quarter of the game according to Akamai. At least I know what site I’ll be going to check out for my next vacation.

Compass Learning in Austin set for Growth
The fascinating thing about production companies in this new media age is the enormous amount of opportunities available in different industries for production service. Compass Learning is one of them. Based in Austin, TX; they are one of the country’s leaders in software development for educational learning with a heavy lean toward digital media production with their own in-house team of script writers, graphic artists, sound designers, animators and video producers.
Compass has recently been purchased by a private equity group, Marlin Equity Partners, for $32 million. The company was spun out of Reader’s Digest bankruptcy. Looks like Compass is poised for serious growth with their new owner and cash injection.

Legal loophole lets gas drillers in Texas to keep Frackin’

A legal loophole could be letting gas drillers inject fluids with high levels of benzene into the ground in gas-rich regions such as North Texas’ Barnett Shale, a study by an environmental group finds.
